Location of the role
Hybrid / remote - with UK site travel. 
About the role
The Operations Engineer, will own the run phase of live sites: maximise uptime, reliability, and SLA performance. Coordinate Level 1/2/3 support, direct field engineers, manage incidents and customer comms, and drive clear reporting and continual improvement. 
Role and Responsibilities
  • Uptime & SLAs: Monitor site health, protect contracted availability, and keep response/restoration within SLA.
  • L1/L2/L3 coordination: Run support queues and escalations (L1 service desk → L2 field ops → L3 OEM/engineering); chair incident bridges and handovers.
  • Dispatch & scheduling: Direct field service engineers and schedule site visits (both proactive PM and reactive call-outs) with clear scope, spares and evidence.
  • Customer & maintenance onboarding: Support new maintenance proposals (scope, SLAs, coverage), onboard new customers and sites into BAU with runbooks and contacts.
  • Platform & hardware onboarding: Onboard new hardware to VEV-IQ (provisioning, alarms/tags, access) and validate data/telemetry for operations.
  • Reporting & reliability: Issue weekly/monthly performance packs (uptime, MTTR, FTFR, repeat faults), lead PIRs/RCA and drive CAPA to prevent recurrences.
Experience and qualifications required
  • 5+ years in operations or field service (EV charging, power electronics, renewables, or industrial controls).
  • Proven incident/problem/change management and confident coordination across L1/L2/L3.
  • Strong diagnostics across electrical/power electronics and networks (e.g., TCP/IP; OCPP/Modbus a plus).
  • Comfortable with monitoring platforms and CMMS; clear, customer-facing communication.
  • UK driving licence; able to travel and participate in an on-call rota.
